Finish what you started.

A macOS focus app that picks up where you left off, blocks the distractions you choose, and helps you get unstuck without leaving your work.

Early beta for Apple silicon Macs. OpenAI API key required.

Illustrative demo

  1. Start a session from your Commitment. Nimbus picks up at your current step and applies the rule you set: block feed.example.
  2. Open a site you chose to block and Nimbus stops the page, then points you back to your task.
  3. Click the cloud, then drag a rectangle around the part of your screen you want explained.
  4. Nimbus answers beside your work, and you can keep the conversation going.

Work you can return to. Limits you choose. Help when you're stuck.

Your work doesn't end when the timer does.

Start a Commitment for anything bigger than one sitting. Break it into steps, and Nimbus remembers where you left off so the next session starts at the first unfinished step.

Focus mode

Apps you choose are hidden, never quit, so your work isn't lost. Websites are blocked in supported Chromium-based browsers through the Nimbus extension. Safari and Firefox aren't supported yet.

Get help with exactly what you select.

Select with Rectangle or Lasso, then ask your question. The conversation stays beside your work, so you can follow up or select another area later.

Nothing is captured until you select.

Illustrative demo

  1. Drag a rectangle around the part of your screen you want explained, then type a question if you like.
  2. Nimbus moves next to your selection and opens a conversation.
  3. The part you selected goes with your question, and the answer appears in the conversation.
  4. Keep going in the same conversation, or select another area later.

You choose what Nimbus sees.

Nimbus doesn't watch or continuously record your screen.

When you ask for help, you select the part of your screen you want Nimbus to use.

  • No continuous screen capture.
  • Screen context is shared only when you explicitly select it for Get Unstuck.
  • Your selection, your question and the task you're working on are sent to OpenAI using your own API key.
  • Your API key is stored in the macOS Keychain, not in Nimbus's settings files.
More about privacy
  • Screenshots are kept in memory only and are never written to disk. They are released when you start a new conversation or quit Nimbus.
  • During a session, Nimbus compares the front app and your browser tab's site against the list you chose, and notices when you've been inactive so it can check in. It does not read what is on screen to do this.
  • Records of blocked website attempts keep only the hostname, the browser and the time. Never full addresses.
  • Step suggestions are optional and off by default. If you turn them on and ask for suggestions, your Commitment's title and steps, and the names of apps and sites you used during sessions, are sent to OpenAI.
  • The app has no analytics or advertising trackers.
